Mühlrad: A limited-edition frame that play with light and shadow

Jacob Mühlrad is a contemporary Swedish composer known for his innovative and deeply emotional works that often draw from his personal experiences. Mühlrad has quickly gained recognition in the classical music world for his modern, yet spiritually resonant compositions.

The collaboration emerged from a series of dialogues between friends Charlie Lindström and composer Jacob Mühlrad, where the discussions revolved around how the refraction of light through a lens could be translated into a classical musical piece.

"I was inspired by the idea of how light is filtered through UV glass and how this could be portrayed through strings. A bow produces sound through the friction between the bow and the string, in a way that resembles how a UV ray is refracted through a lens. That was my starting point for the inspiration behind the piece," says Jacob.

The frames, in turn, became the result of a play with angular and round shapes, where the lens and the frame meet in a subtle imbalance, much like a polished black grand piano.
